July 4th, 2010 marked our 10th Anniversary of being open to the public. We have been engaged in fulfilling our mission to share our American Imagist Collection and enlighten a global audience to American illustration art. To continue realizing this mission, only once each year, we seek your support.

Please give generously. Museum
income does not cover ever-increasing expenses. This is the only appeal we make; we do not telephone, text or overwhelm you with solicitations, nor do any proceeds go towards fund-raising.

This is quite simply our only other source of funding. Additionally, there are still a number of naming opportunities for certain donor categories. Selected galleries and gardens can be named in honor of donors.

We are recognized internationally as a "unique museum".

Our recent 10th Anniversary benefit gala honored entertainer Whoopi Goldberg,
author Tom Wolfe, and the National Arts Club for their contributions to popular culture. It attracted 350 guests from Shanghai to Caracas, from Vancouver to Sydney - a testimony to the Museum's ongoing global efforts.

* The People's Republic of China is sending a government delegation in November to discuss a relationship between the NMAI and Chinese cultural institutions.

* We will soon open our traveling exhibition Norman Rockwell's America in England at the renowned Dulwich Picture Gallery of London - oldest art museum in the United Kingdom - for their 200th anniversary. Rockwell's illustration paintings will hang nearby artworks by Canaletto, Dou, Rembrandt, Van Dyck, and other Old Masters from December 15th, 2010  through  March 26, 2011. These are important steps not just for illustration art, but for American art and its contributions to a merging international culture.

The National Museum of American Illustration is a nonprofit, independent, educational and aesthetic organization. It is located in Newport, RI, on Bellevue Avenue at Vernon Court (1898), a Carrére and Hastings designed Beaux-Arts adaptation of an 18th century French chateau. It is the first national museum devoted exclusively to American illustration art. Illustration consists of original artwork created to be reproduced in books, magazines, newspapers, and advertisements. 'Golden Age' paintings by such luminaries as Norman Rockwell, Maxfield Parrish, NC Wyeth, JC Leyendecker, and 75 others are displayed in 'Gilded Age' architecture, creating a unique union of architecture and art - a national treasure. The Museum is administered by the American Civilization Foundation, a nonprofit organization with the goal to present the best possible venue for appreciating the greatest collection of illustration art - the most American of American art.
